A hot Kenai River Brown Bears club will collide with an amped-up Fairbanks Ice Dogs squad today and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Soldotna Sports Center. The Brown Bears come into the series on a four-game winning streak, their longest of the season.

The annual Gusher will be Feb. 16 at the Soldotna Sports Center. This year will be a Valentine's theme. Dress is semiformal and black-tie optional. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will begin at 7 p.m.

The Kenai River Brown Bears acquired forward Jordan Paine just before Wednesday's North American Hockey League trade deadline. Paine, at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, comes to the Brown Bears from the Texas Tornado.

The high school hockey season will come to an end this weekend with the ASAA First National Cup state hockey championships at the Curtis Menard Sports Complex in Wasilla. The three-day tournament will feature only one local team - the Soldotna Stars.
