Homer hosts Kenai in a game that will be vital for playoff positioning. Also this week, Skyview and Soldotna, and Nikiski and Seward, renew rivalries.

The Kenai Central girls cross-country team, led by Allie Ostrander, will chase its first Region III title since 2001 on Saturday at Palmer. The Kenai and Skyview boys are looking to earn state berths, as are the Seward girls and boys.

The Kenai River Brown Bears ended the North American Hockey League Showcase Tournament with a 4-2 loss to the Janesville (Wis.) Jets on Saturday in Blaine, Minn. The Brown Bears finish the tournament with a 3-1 record
