Jim Dawson, a longtime high school football assistant on the Kenai Peninsula, will take over the Kenai Central program from John Marquez. Kenai assistant principal Jim Beeson said Marquez resigned during the school year, mostly due to personal reasons.

Well, we can't complain about the great weather for golf so far this year. The string tournament was so much fun with a good turnout. Having 20 feet of string to extend your shot can really improve your game.

As part of Family Fun in the Midnight Sun, the Family Fun Run was held Saturday in Nikiski. The results follow: Five miles Women 10 to 19 - Olivia Pfiefer, 41 minutes, 56 seconds; 2. Freya Chay, 41:56; 3. Trinity Griffin, 1:04:46. Men 10 to 19 - 1.

With a lot of hard work by Bill Engberg and his merry band of mowers (with an assist from the sun) the golf course is rounding into form wonderfully. In another two weeks the greens will be dialed! Exciting news for every golfer.

Kenai Golf Course is in great condition. All 18 greens are in superb shape. The early season delay and poor weather conditions have given way to outstanding playing conditions unmatched in recent years.

The American Legion Twins split with South on the road Sunday, losing the league game and winning the nonleague game. The Twins are now 3-4 in the league and 4-8 overall. That puts the Twins in ninth place in the league.

The Peninsula Oilers finished off a successful week with a 15-0 blowout in seven innings against the Anchorage Adult Baseball League All-Stars on Saturday at Coral Seymour Memorial park.
