The Skyview girls and boys basketball teams both finished winless at the Lime Solar/Pepsi Invitational on Saturday at Anchorage Christian Schools. The Skyview boys finished up play Saturday by losing to Barrow 58-30.

The Kenai River Brown Bears split a pair of games with the Fresno (Calif.) Monsters on Friday and Saturday at Selland Arena. The Brown Bears notched a 5-4, overtime win on Friday before falling 3-2 on Saturday.

Cal State Northridge pitcher Michael Coates returns to the Oilers for the 2013 season. Coates was 3-1 last season for the Oilers with a 4.07 ERA. He pitched 35 innings in 12 appearances and gave up 36 hits, 16 earned runs and 14 bases on balls.

The Kenai Central basketball teams both took victories against former conference rival Skyview at Kenai on Friday night. 

The Kenai girls took a dominating 53-12 win earlier in the night, before the boys followed that up with an equally demanding 50-26 win. Both games were non-conference, and the boys contest was played as an endowment game.

The Kenai River Brown Bears ended the first half of the North American Hockey League season by splitting a pair of games against the Wenatchee (Wash.) Wild on Friday and Saturday nights, taking a 5-3 win on Friday before suffering a 5-2 loss on Saturday at the Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee.
