Skyview defeated Thunder Mountain 27-20 in double overtime Friday in nonconference play at Skyview to earn its first win of the season. Thunder Mountain fell to 3-2 and lost to a medium-schools squad for the first time all season.
The final racing weekend of the year at the Twin City Raceway dirt track began on Friday night with a passing rain shower that delayed the action. Because of an 11 p.m. curfew, the scheduled races were not completed, with only the first heats for the sprint cars, mini-stocks, A-stocks, B-stocks and legends being run.
Jason Lamoreaux of Anchorage took the victory at Saturday’s Homer High School Triathlon, completing the challenge in one hour, 29 minutes and six seconds. The fastest Peninsula man was David Martin of Kenai in fourth place, with a time of 1:52:44. Amber Stull of Anchorage was the fastest woman, finishing in 1:44:29, while the fastest Peninsula finisher was Angie Brennan of Soldotna in second place with a time of 2:03:05.
