Soldotna swept Wasilla three games to none Thursday night in Northern Lights conference play at Soldotna. Soldotna won the first game 25-17, the second 25-15 and the third 25-15. With an unofficial clocking of one hour, 10 minutes, the Stars played efficiently with the stats spread evenly through the team.

The Kenai River Brown Bears opened their regular season on the road in the North American Hockey League with a 2-1 loss against the Topeka Roadrunners (Kan). The Bears scored with 1 minute, 23 seconds left in the opening period with a Zac Lazzaro goal, assisted by Vincent Stefan.

The Kenai Peninsula Racing Lions - Circle Track Division held races Friday and Saturday night at Twin City Raceway in Kenai. The Friday races were cut short due to rain, and were completed Saturday afternoon. The Saturday night races were held as scheduled. The results follow:
