The two mushers from the Kenai Peninsula have finished the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race. Kasilof’s Kristy Berington finished in ninth place on Wednesday. On Thursday, Clam Gulch’s Gus Guenther finished in 13th place.
The times for all basketball games on Saturday between host Soldotna and Colony have been moved up by an hour. That means the day of basketball will start at 9 a.m., instead of 10 a.m. The varsity girls should start at about 4 p.m., while the varsity boys will start at about 5:45 p.m.
Three swimmers from the Top of the World Swimming (TOWS) Masters Workout Group placed fourth overall out of eight teams at the 2012 Masters Short Course Yards Swimming Championships. The annual meet was held on Feb. 10 and 11 at the Bartlett High School in Anchorage.

The Kenai River Brown Bears rebounded from a 2-1 loss to the Wenatchee (Wash.) Wild on Friday by defeating the Wild 2-1 on Saturday at the Soldotna Sports Center in front of 747 fans. The win was crucial as the Brown Bears battle for a spot in the North American Hockey League playoffs.
The Soldotna girls won the Homer Winter Carnival on Saturday, finishing off Homer 61-16 to clinch the win. The roundup also has results from the Valdez Elks Tournament, the Ninilchik Tournament, and Nikolaevsk's trip to Unalaska.
