Race No. 1 of the Salmon Run Series kicked off Wednesday evening at the Tsalteshi Trails in Soldotna. Jonah Theisen of Kenai edged Sam Tilly for the win by a second in the five-kilometer race, winning with a time of 17 minutes, 3 seconds.

The Peninsula Oilers secured a dramatic 9-3 Alaska Baseball League victory over the Anchorage Bucs after 14 innings Wednesday night at Mulcahy Field. The Oilers (11-8) increased their lead in the ABL American League to 3 1-2 games over the Bucs (7-11).
