FAIRBANKS (AP) -- A Fairbanks woman died from head injuries suffered in a snowmachine accident late Sunday.

Fairbanks Police Sgt. Dan Welborn said Kelly Anne Gibson, 26, was not wearing a helmet when she was thrown onto the trunk of a parked car along a city street. The impact left a large dent in the car, Welborn said.

Gibson was taken to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, where she died Monday afternoon.

She was a passenger on the snowmachine. The driver apparently struck a curb and lost control before hitting the car, Welborn said.
