HOMER (AP) -- A 22-year-old Homer man driving without headlights and with an obscured windshield crashed into an Alaska State Troopers patrol car Saturday evening, troopers reported.

Thomas Lyon was driving a 1992 Subaru station wagon at Mile 2 Homer Spit Road. His headlights were off, according to troopers, and his window defroster was broken. Lyon said he was wiping off his windshield as he drove to keep it clear.

Lyon crashed into Trooper Arthur Dunn's patrol car as Dunn pulled out of a driveway, according to troopers. Dunn told the investigating trooper he did not see Lyon's station wagon. Both men wore seat belts, and neither was injured.

Troopers cited Lyon for driving without headlights after sunset and operating his vehicle without proper equipment.
