Earthquake rattles Umnak Island

JUNEAU (AP) -- An earthquake struck south of Umnak Island in the Aleutians late Tuesday.

The quake occurred at 10:50 p.m. and had a preliminary magnitude of 5.1, according to the Alaska Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer.

The earthquake was centered 50 miles south of Nikolski and was 35 miles deep. There were no immediate reports of damage or injury.
