FAIRBANKS (AP) -- Someday Wesley Scott Hollembaek can tell people he was born in rush-hour traffic on the Richardson Highway in Fairbanks.
The infant, whose parents live in Delta Junction, was born on the way to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital Monday evening.
The baby's 23-year-old mother, Christy Hollembaek, said her husband had barely maneuvered off the road when their son announced his arrival.
The father, 21-year-old Buckley Hollembaek, said the birth occurred so quickly he didn't have time to get his wife into the back seat of their car. He described his role in the birth as ''playing catch and cleanup.''
The Hollembaeks used a cell phone to call for an ambulance to take them to the hospital, where the infant was pronounced healthy.
