Social Security reps to visit peninsula
Social Security Administration representatives will be on the Kenai Peninsula from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 13 at the Seward City Hall, from noon to 4 p.m. Jan. 14 at Kenai City Hall and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Homer Senior Citizens Center.
State parks advisory boards seeking members
The Southern Kenai Peninsula State Parks Citizens Advisory Board is seeking community members interested in advising Alaska State Parks managers on issues relating to state parks and outdoor recreation management in the Ninilchik and Anchor Point area. To be considered, applicants must live or work in the Ninilchik or Anchor Point areas. Selected members will meet five times a year between September and April.
Applications can be obtained at www.dnr.state.ak.us. To apply, send a completed application, resume and short letter describing the reason you want to serve on the board. Applications are due at the Kenai-area parks office by Jan. 15. For more information, call Jack Blackwell at 262-5581.
Fish stocking plan open for comment
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Division of Sport Fish's fish stocking plan is in its draft format and ready for public comment. The division plans to release more than 7 million fish over the next five years. The plan is posted at www.sf.adfg.state.ak.us/statewide/hatchery/stockingplan.cfm.
The deadline for comments is Jan. 16.

Ski team plans fund-raiser
The Homer High School Mariners ski team will hold a raffle fund-raiser for a 2003 Yamaha 700ccSX Viper snowmachine. The drawing will be held in conjunction with the team's spaghetti dinner at 5 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Homer High School commons.
Tickets for the raffle are $5 each and can be obtained by calling (907) 235-5354 or from any Mariner skier. The cost of dinner is $5 per person or $20 per family. You need not be present to win.
