Linda and Jessica Petrey welcome you to the new family operated American restaurant at the King's Inn in Kenai.

For a long time the Petrey family ran the restaurant and grill at the Kenai Airport and now the family has returned to open The Daily Bread at the King’s Inn in Kenai, “We’re happy to be back after taking a few months off and are once again serving our friends with our traditional American dishes, good food at good prices,” Linda Petrey told the Dispatch. American dishes at the family owned and operated restaurant includes burgers and fries, cole slaw, potato salad and homemade potato chips, “We make them from fresh potatoes right here and let you salt them yourself according to your own taste. They are very popular and can even be picked up fresh to take home,” added Petrey. Another all American favorite Ham or Bacon & Eggs is available all day long at The Daily Bread, “We do breakfast all day in addition to lunch and dinner, for anyone that gets up or stays up late, or just gets hungry for a traditional breakfast any time, were open ‘til 9:00 p.m.”

Roger and Patrick Petrey do the cooking while Linda and her daughter along with Linda’s sister wait on the tables serving you your daily bread. Linda says she has been involved in the restaurant business one way or another since she was a teenager, “We learned to love it as kids, it was our first jobs and it was great because it allowed us to work together as a family. The best part of the business is meeting people and getting to be a part of their lives while serving them the food that makes them happy.”

The spacious atmosphere at The Daily Bread allows for comfortable dinning and offers a banquet room that will accommodate groups and gatherings up to 70 people. The King’s Inn is also under new ownership and according to Linda plans are underway to add an indoor swimming pool, “We’re not sure when that will happen probably 6-8months from now but we’re excited about the future here with the new ownership,” she said. The Daily Bread located in the King’s Inn at the corner of the Spur Highway and Airport Rd. is open daily during the winter from 10:00am to 9:00pm and Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm and is closed on Monday until summer. For more information or to reserve the banquet room call Linda at 283-2255.
