Quartet makes classical appearance

The Performing Arts Society kicks off the new year in classical style. The Alexander String Quartet will perform at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

The group has toured throughout Europe and North America and is widely acclaimed for its interpretations of Beethoven and Bartok. They also have established themselves as important advocates of new music.

The San Francisco-based quartet includes Frederick Lifsitz on violin, Sandy Wilson on cello, Ge-Fang Yang on violin and Paul Yarbrough on viola.

Tickets are $15 for general admission and $12 for students and senior citizens. Tickets can be purchased at Alaska Gift and Gallery in Kenai, Northcountry Fair and River City Books in Soldotna or at the door.
