ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A man was shot several times early Wednesday while standing in front of a theater in east Anchorage, police said.
Johnnie Walker, 34, was taken to the Alaska Native Medical Center where he was being treated for wounds to his back, legs and side. He was in stable condition Wednesday night.
Police arrested Daniel McHugh, 17, who was charged as an adult with attempted murder. He was being held at the McLaughlin Youth Center on $500,000 bail.
Witnesses told police a teen-ager who had covered his face with a hooded sweat shirt, approached Walker and fired a gun at him several times. Walker, who was standing outside the Totem Theater, was shot at least four times.
''He got behind me and just started shooting,'' Walker said.
Investigators say the shooting stemmed from a dispute Walker had with the boy and his mother several months ago.
The youth was arrested a short time later at his home. Police also recovered a handgun he had stashed in a park.
