The Soldotna boys basketball team held off Mt. Edgecumbe 53-48 on Thursday in the opening round of the Dimond Prep Shootout.

Claude Young cut the gap to 52-48 with a layup, but Michael Bauder hit 1-of-2 free throws and Matt Grubb iced the game with a steal.
