Landford graduates basic training

Air Force Airman Joel P. Landford of Kenai recently graduated basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

During his six weeks of training, Landford studied the Air Force mission, organization, military customs and courtesies, performed drill and ceremony marches and received physical training. He also received training in rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.

In addition to his training, Landford received credits toward an associate degree through the community college of the Air Force.

He is the son of Darrell and Cherlyn Landford. Landford is a 2003 graduate of Nikiski-Middle-Senior High School.

Wackler makes honor roll

Mark D. Wackler of Soldotna was named to the scholastic honor roll for the fall term at Oregon State University. To be on the honor roll, a student must carry at least 12 graded hours of course work.

Wackler received a 3.5 grade average or better. He is a senior, studying fisheries and wildlife science.
