Students show patriotism

Kaitlin Walker, left, and Shina Wen Chea, center, the overall winners of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Creative Patriotic Art Scholarship, pose with program chair, Billie Huddleston, at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. Walker won first place and $500 and Chea got second and $300. Walker's entry will be submitted to the statewide competition in April. The winner of the statewide competition will become eligible for the $10,000 first place national scholarship, a jacket, plaque and airfare plus two nights lodging to attend the Ladies Auxiliary National Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah. The winning entries are on display at the Kenai visitors center through January.
