Credit Union 1 targeted in e-mail scam

An e-mail “phishing” scam is targeting members of Credit Union 1, encouraging them to enter sensitive credit and debit card information into a bogus Web site.

The Web site looks like Credit Union 1’s home page, but instead of having a spot to log in to online banking, those fields have been replaced with “Card Number,” “Expiration Date,” and “ATM PIN.” At least one member put sensitive data into the bogus Web site, though it was caught quickly so his card was canceled and there will be no financial impact. Credit Union 1 believes the scam Web site is hosted by a Spanish company.

If anyone believes they have been a victim of this scam, call Credit Union 1 at (800) 478-2222.
