ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Disaster unemployment assistance is still available to people who lost work because of Kenai Peninsula flooding.
But they have until Wednesday to apply.
Benefits are based on an individual's 2001 earnings, according to officials with the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
Benefits can range from $97 to $248 a week, plus $24 for each dependent up to a total of three.
Disaster unemployment insurance is not available to people who qualify for regular unemployment insurance benefits.
The benefits could be available to residents and workers in the Kenai Peninsula Borough, Kodiak Island Borough and Chignik Bay area, including Chignik Lake and Chignik Lagoon.
People who want to apply for assistance can call 800-590-5941 by 5 p.m. Wednesday.
