Generosity of many spell success for Holiday Kindness Project

Posted: Tuesday, January 06, 2004

Once again the Holiday Kindness Project at Redoubt Elementary School was a great success.

Each year the PTA at Redoubt sponsors this program. The program helps families at our school that may need a little extra help during the holiday season. Each child was provided with a new outfit, socks, toy and toiletry items. Each family also received a family board game with a bag of goodies, turkey and a box of food collected during our canned food drive. This year we helped 20 families which included over 45 children.

The monetary donations and willingness to adopt a child was outstanding this year. Without the generosity and support of our community, PTA, parents, students and staff at Redoubt Elementary, this program would not be possible.

I would like to thank Elena Horton, our school secretary, for helping me organize the project this year and our school principal, Mr. Syverson for delivering the packages. I would also like to thank the many people who donated money, turkeys, items from the fireplace and for those who adopted children and shopped for them. With your wonderful generosity, we were able to help brighten Christmas for so many children.

Thanks to the following people for their kindness: Wells Fargo Team Members, Soldotna Elks Lodge, Ladies Auxiliary, Tim and Kathy Howard, Lynn Sinette, Stephanie McDowell, Lezlea Brandon, Eva Stroer, Sean and Lynn Dusek, Leonard Ball, the Gallager family, John and Patty Dombovy, Corbi Aaronson, Tammy Goggia, Mr. Ball's sixth-grade class, Brian and Anne Bixby, Carrie Bilstad, Ruthann Truesdell, Amy Jelinek, Seane Olgesbee, Elena Horton, Sharon Hale, Debbi Bass, Trenna Kooly, Judy Swarner, Leslie Ansel, Todd Syverson, Nancy Egbert, DeeDee Anderson, Angie Richardson, Sally Hoskins, Molly Mahurin, Marnie Nelson, Kathi Garcia, Janice Delaney-Hagen, Diane Haupt, June Rigby, the Hoyt family, Tammi Lamb, Corryn Hill, the Walden family, Bobbie Spence, Candy Goldstein, Lori Marquardt, Coleen Sumoniem, Melanie and Jeff Leete, Paula Rohloff, Kenai Peninsula Dental Hygienists, Dennis Spindler, Carmen Stephl, Tracie Stang, John Mills and Amy St. Onge.
