Parents support group to meet

Peninsula Parents Anonymous will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday at Bridges Community Center. There is no fee. A free meal and children's program is provided. The group was started to give parents a safe and supportive place to meet.

HCS to offer Italian language classes

The Homer Community Schools will offer "Introduction to Italian" from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Jan. 20 to March 2. Jo Going will instruct. The cost is $85. The deadline to register is Jan. 13.

Sterling community plan available for comment

A town meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 14. at the Sterling Senior Center to discuss the Sterling community plan. The draft plan was written and approved by the Sterling community plan steering committee and is available for discussion and approval from community members. A copy of the plan can be accessed on the Kenai Peninsula Borough's Web site, under the "other" link. The DCED will facilitate the meeting. For more information, call 262-9811.

State parks advisory boards seeking members

The Southern Kenai Peninsula State Parks Citizens Advisory Board is seeking community members interested in advising Alaska State Parks managers on issues relating to state parks and outdoor recreation management in the Ninilchik and Anchor Point area. To be considered, applicants must live or work in the Ninilchik or Anchor Point areas. Selected members will meet five times a year between September and April.

Grant writing workshop slated

The Foraker Group will offer a workshop on nonprofit grant writing from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. The workshop will cover the components of a successful grant proposal and how to research grant opportunities. The cost is $100 for people from Foraker Partner organizations and $200 for all others. KDLL to hold elections

KDLL-FM Public Radio will hold its membership meeting and board of directors elections at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at KDLL studios in the Economic Development District building, three miles north of Kenai. The meeting is open to all members.
