Whether it's visual art or music that's in demand, there is plenty of both going on today in Kenai and Soldotna as part of the First Thursday program.

In the visual art venue, Frames and Things in Soldotna will have a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. for a pottery exhibition it's hosting. A few blocks away at Art Works will be a reception for multimedia artist Theresa Napolitano from 6 to 8 p.m. In Kenai, the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center will host a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. for photographer Mary Hayes, who's work is on display there until Jan. 21.

For music, visit Already Read used book store in Kenai from 6 to 7 p.m. to hear Maria Allison play the piano. Mike Morgan and Friends will play folk, blues, Hawaiian and classic acoustic music at Veronica's Coffee House at 6:30 p.m.

In Soldotna, the monthly bluegrass jam at Christ Lutheran Church will again entertain from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
