Kenai Chamber 'Unsung Heros' recognized

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce hosts the community awards ceremony "Our Unsung Heroes" Saturday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Kenai Cultural and Visitor's Center. Keynote speaker will be Kip Knudson, Chair, Alaska State Chamber of Commerce. Call 283-7989 for tickets.

Russian now offered on Wells Fargo ATMs

Wells Fargo Bank recently announced that customers can now choose Russian to conduct transactions on all its more than 12,000 ATM machines nationwide, including the Kenai Peninsula. The addition is part of the company's merger with Wachovia Bank. Wells Fargo and Wachovia ATM customers will be able to choose to have their transaction screens displayed in one of eight languages -- English, Spanish, Chinese, Hmong, Korean, Vietnamese, French and Russian. Customers who want to conduct their transaction in Russian can select this option after inserting their ATM card in any Wells Fargo machine. After selecting their language option all future transactions the customer makes will automatically be displayed in their preferred language.

Aleut Corp names new subsidiary president

The Aleut Corporation has named Don Taft as president of its subsidiary Aleut Industrial Services effective Jan. 1, 2011. As president, Taft will oversee the holding company for its two subsidiaries; C & H Testing Services, in Bakersfield, Calif., and Alaska Instrument Company, in Anchorage. Taft is currently president of C & H Testing Services.
