ANCHORAGE (AP) -- An Anchorage man is recovering from a bullet wound in his arm and another man has been arrested following a weekend shooting outside a downtown bar, police said Monday.
Eddy L. Mew, 36, was shot early Sunday and treated at an Anchorage hospital.
Paul Freeman, 42, was arrested in connection with the shooting and charged with first-degree assault, police said. He was being held at the Anchorage Jail on $20,000 bail.
Police said Mew had been drinking at the Avenue Bar was walking near Fourth Avenue and D Street at about 2:20 a.m. when Freeman approached, witnesses told police. Freeman argued with Mew, then fired several shots at him, police said.
A witness noted the license plate number of the car Freeman drove away in. Soon after, officers spotted Freeman's car and took him into custody.
