January dates to remember:

Battle of the Books Students who are registered should receive details from their coach regarding meeting times this week. For more information, students should call their coach. The district competitions will be held at the IDEA office Thursday for third and fourth grade, Friday for fifth and sixth grade, Monday for high school and Jan. 15 for seventh and eight grade.

Science Fair All registrations for the 2003-04 Science Fair are due to the Kenai office Friday. For more information, e-mail Steve Hackett at steveh@ideafamilies.org or pick up information packets from the office.

Closure The office will be closed for a staff in-service Tuesday.

Due date Progress reports, evaluations and second quarter work samples are due Jan. 15. They can be dropped off, faxed or mailed in. For more information, call your students teacher.

Spelling Bee The Spelling Bee will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 12 at the IDEA office and at Carol Simpson's home in Homer. Students interested in participating can sign up with CJ Merchant at cj@ideafamilies.org. Practice books are available at the office or at Carol Simpson's home.

Testing The state standardized tests will be Feb. 17 to 20. More information will be sent via e-mail. Additional information can be found in your monthly newsletter delivered to your ideafamilies.org e-mail or on our Web site at www.ideafamilies.org.
