RALEIGH, N.C. Kevin Weekes made 19 saves, and Danny Markov and Kevyn Adams scored first-period goals to lift the Carolina Hurricanes to a 2-0 victory Tuesday night over the St. Louis Blues.
Weekes' fifth shutout of the season helped the Hurricanes snap a three-game losing streak.
In the second period, St. Louis managed 10 shots but couldn't beat Weekes. St. Louis' Chris Osgood made 22 saves.
Flames 3, Islanders 2
UNIONDALE, N.Y. Jarome Iginla had two goals and an assist, and Calgary extended its road-winning streak to six games by beating New York.
The Islanders' home-winning streak was snapped at seven.
Oleg Saprykin had the other Calgary goal, and Jamie McLennan made 31 saves to win for the second straight night. It was the Flames' sixth consecutive win on Long Island, dating to their last loss on Dec. 3, 1996.
Mattias Weinhandl and Jason Blake scored for the Islanders, winless in three games (0-2-1) after posting a six-game winning streak.
Avalanche 6, Blue Jackets 0
DENVER Paul Kariya returned after nearly a two-month absence and scored a second-period goal, helping Colorado win its fourth straight game.
David Aebischer had 35 saves to post his ninth career shutout.
Fred Brathwaite made 25 saves on 29 shots in two periods for the Blue Jackets before making way for Marc Denis, who had five saves on seven shots in the third period.
Kariya, out since Nov. 15 because of a sprained right wrist, scored the last of four Colorado goals in the second period, redirecting a shot by Rob Blake at 14:43 for a 4-0 lead.
Canadiens 3, Sabres 1
MONTREAL Jose Theodore made 34 saves, and Pierre Dagenais, Saku Koivu and Mike Ribeiro scored, leading Montreal over Buffalo.
The Canadiens also tied their longest unbeaten streak of the season at five, and have at least one point in six straight games (4-0-1-1).
Alexei Zhitnik scored for Buffalo, which ended a three-game unbeaten streak. The Sabres lost for just the second time in eight games (4-2-2) following a seven-game losing streak.
Maple Leafs 2, Predators 1
TORONTO Bryan McCabe scored twice in the third period to rally Toronto to a victory against Nashville.
Mats Sundin assisted on both goals for the Maple Leafs, who have won two straight following a four-game winless skid.
Toronto won for the first time after trailing after two periods, while Nashville lost for the first time when leading after 40 minutes.
Scott Walker scored a short-handed goal for the Predators.
Senators 5, Lightning 2
OTTAWA Marian Hossa scored twice and added an assist, and Ottawa extended its unbeaten streak to 10 games by beating Tampa Bay.
Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza and Todd White also scored for the Senators, who won their fifth straight game. Ottawa is 8-0-2 during its streak.
Martin Prusek made a surprise start after Patrick Lalime was sidelined by back spasms before the warmup and made 27 saves.
Martin St. Louis and Nolan Pratt scored for the Lightning, who got 22 saves from Nikolai Khabibulin.
