Kenai Fjords National Park announces changes in public use cabin program

Permit fees for the coastal public use cabins within Kenai Fjords National Park have increased to $50 per night from $35 per night to better offset costs of maintaining the cabins and managing the reservation system.

Reservations for the 2005 season are now being accepted by phone or mail at the Anchorage Alaska Public Lands Information Center at (907) 271-2737. Reservations for summer cabins will not be accepted at the park office in Seward.

The Willow public use cabin near Exit Glacier is now available for rent. The nightly cost for this cabin remains $35 per night. A winter use only cabin, it is available after Exit Glacier Road is closed by snow, generally mid-November through late March. Reservations for this cabin can be made directly through the park office at 224-7500.

The Holgate public use cabin will be closed for maintenance from July 5 through July 30. The Aialik and North Arm cabins will remain available for public use throughout the summer season, from May 20 through Sept. 4.
