Skyview grad stationed in Japan

Amie L. Joy, a 1999 Skyview High School graduate, was assigned to the USS O'Brien in Japan on Dec. 2. She entered naval training June 26.

She is the daughter of Robert and Angela Joy of Soldotna.

SOU students named to dean's list

Lola Colleen Vars and Corie Lynn Weaver were two of 670 full-time Southern Oregon University students who achieved grade point averages of 3.5 through 3.99, qualifying them for the fall 2000 dean's honor list.

Ping pong tourney results

The results of the Soldotna Elks Club weekly ping pong tournament are:

First place -- Gary Brumley and Ray Debardelaben

Second place -- Brannon Ames and Dan Mortenson

Third place -- Wayne Brooks and Rob Correson

The tournament, held every Wednesday night at the Elks Club in Soldotna, is open to anyone who'd like to play. There is a $5 entry fee, and partners are drawn at random before play begins. For more information, call Ray Debardelaben at 262-7415.
