Officer Watson's death felt by community in Michigan

Posted: Thursday, January 08, 2004

I learned of Kenai Police Officer John Watson's death a few days ago in our local newspaper. Without seeming hysterical, I need to say that a large hole has formed in my heart.

John and I attended the same high school and socialized with a lot of the same people and I can truly say that he was one of my dearest friends. Your paper described him wonderfully and correctly and I think I speak for all of the alumni of South Haven High School when I say he will be truly missed.

He was extremely popular in our school, yet he never seemed to know it. He treated everybody with kindness and could light up a room with that big grin he always wore.

I'd like for his wife and children to know how much he was loved not only by myself, but by an entire community in Michigan. I look forward to seeing him again in heaven.
