Family classes offered

The Kenaitze Head Start will host the following family classes:

· Parents 1-2-3-4 is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Jan. 16 and 23 in the Kenaitze Indian Tribe conference room at 150 N. Willow St. in Kenai. Childcare will be provided.

· Colleen Sonnevil will teach a family budgeting class from 10:30 a.m. to noon Jan. 19.

· Deb Nyquist will lead “Exercise As A Family” from 10:30 a.m. to noon Jan. 26 in the Family House.

· Patchwork Families will be offered from 6 to 7 p.m. Jan. 30 and Feb. 6. Childcare will be provided.

Moms to meet

The Moms Club, an international support group for at-home mothers, is starting a new chapter in the Kenai area. The group will hold monthly meetings and activity groups. Call Becky for more information at 252-4992.

Class of 1987 seeks members

Class of ’97 plans reunion

The Soldotna High School class of 1997 is planning a class reunion for July 27-29. Class members are being sought for updates on how they have spent the past 10 years.

Anyone who attended SoHi with the class is invited to the reunion, whether or not they graduated with the 1997 grads. For more information, contact Theresa Sin at

Reading program continues

Kids are invited to join the Triumvirate Bookstore Winter Frequent Reading Program. Upon signing up, kids can pick out one free book, a reading calendar and reading program rules at the bookstore in the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna. Bookstore hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Each time a reader returns their initialed calendar (weekly or monthly) to the bookstore, they can pick out another free book and get their calendar punched. Get up to four extra punches each month for special activities like reading to a younger sibling, attending a storytelling session, reading to a nonparent adult or filling out a “kid’s pick” sheet on your favorite book. Group offers help

Love, INC (Love In The Name of Christ) is a nonprofit telephone clearinghouse for peninsula residents in need of help. Its hours of operation are from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Community members seeking help may call 283-5683.
