Former Soldotna resident Sharon Beth Malotte died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, N.Y. She was 40.
A memorial will be held at a later date in Canandaigua.
Miss Malotte was born in Canandaigua on June 3, 1960, and lived there at the time of her death. She moved to Alaska with her parents in 1978, and had various jobs, among them dispatcher for the Barrow Police Department. She joined the Alaska Air National Guard in 1981, and went on assignment to Hawaii, Turkey and Germany. In 1983, she was Airman of the Year.
She was married to Jay Pokrandt of Anchorage, and later Soldotna. Upon their divorce in 1999, she moved back to Canandaigua.
Her family said, "Some of her organs were donated for transplant, so some good can come out of her death."
She was preceded in death by her father, William S. Malotte, who was a Soldotna police officer.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Gloria and Bill Dornberger of Soldotna; sister and brother-in-law, Laurie Malotte and Kevin Henehan of Stanley, N.Y.; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Paula Malotte of Canandaigua; nephews Cody and Michael Henehan of Stanley; maternal grandfather, Warren Moore of Soldotna; and various aunts, uncles and cousins in New York state.
