New Peninsula Beauty Supply opens on K-Beach

Women as well as men who prefer using professional products can now shop locally, thanks to Michelle Maher, owner of the new Peninsula Beauty Supply.

"What we are is an open to the public beauty supply. Normally you are not able to buy any of these professional products when you want to do your own hair, so what we have are professional products that you can purchase without a license. So you can buy for yourself perms, bleach, hair color, pretty much everything you need to do your own hair, or remove unwanted hair," said Maher. According to Maher the professional products while being of a higher potency do come with explicit instructions that are easy to follow and she is also able to offer advice to those who want to do their own hair.

Maher started her business to meet a need for those locally who do their own hair, "In most states in America you can find a beauty supply where you can walk in and buy professional products, but there was no place like that on the Peninsula. So those of us who do our own hair had to go to Anchorage or get the products when we were on vacation outside," said Maher. The new beauty supply caters to men as well as women, "We've already had a lot of men in here, we carry a multi-cultural hair relaxer, for anyone who wants to make their hair straight, and men are also perming, bleaching, and coloring their hair these days," added Maher. New professional beauty products for the new century and the New Year, now available at the Peninsula Beauty Supply on K-Beach Rd. across from the Peninsula Food Bank in the Jay's Painting building.
