Jerome C. Atchison of Montague, Mich., died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002. He was 63.
A gathering of family and friends is planned for Saturday at the Algot Johnson Post No. 69 of the American Legion in Whitehall, Mich. Another memorial service is tentatively planned for sometime in April.
Mr. Atchison was born March 26, 1938, in Muskegon, Mich., to Howard and Lylah (Bush) Atchison. He was raised in Montague and joined the U.S. Army in 1957, serving until 1969. He was stationed in Kenai and made his home here until 1996.
He was a chemical operator for Unocal until his retirement, when he returned to Montague.
Mr. Atchison was active in the American Legion in Whitehall. He enjoyed woodworking and did many woodworking projects for different communities.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Doreen Harmon, and his father, Howard Atchison.
Mr. Atchison is survived by his daughters Bernadine Atchison of Soldotna and Elizabeth Atchison of Kenai; his daughter and son-in-law, Cathleen and Charles Pinkerton of Anchor Point; his mother, Lylah Atchison of Montague; his brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Shirley Atchison of Whitehall; sister and brother-in-law, Sally and David Sevey of Muskegon; and eight grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Cooper-Harris Funeral Home in Shelby, Mich.
