Counseling group names president elect
The members of the Alaska Counseling Association recently chose Homer mental health counselor Julia Person as their president elect. In this position, Person provides support for the current president and is responsible for organizing the annual fall conference. She will assume the office of state president for the organization in 2004.
Person currently provides mental health counseling to adults and children through her private practice in Homer. After her election, she went to a regional meeting of the national organization, American Counseling Association in San Francisco. Of particular benefit to counselors and other mental health professionals in Homer, Person said the national association will be bringing professional training opportunities to Homer.

Homer chamber offers business listings
The Homer Chamber of Commerce marine trades committee will be reprinting the Boat Owners Guide to Homer, a comprehensive listing of Homer's marine and harbor services. Businesses and organizations are invited to purchase listings in the directory which will be printed by mid-March.
In addition to the 7,500 directories to be printed, the directory will be posted online at www.homermarinetrades.com. In addition to business listings, the directory will contain loads of helpful harbor information, including harbor maps, service listings and safe-boating tips.
The cost for one listing is $75, and $30 for each additional listing. Each business listing will provide comprehensive contact information for the business, including name, phone, e-mail, Web, fax and address, as well as a 20-word description of the services provided. An early-bird discount of $65 per listing is offered to those paying by Jan. 31. The deadline to list is Feb. 14.
