Former Kasilof resident Roger Allen Bissell died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004. He was 39.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Feb. 5 in Riverside, Wash. At that time his ashes will be spread at the Johnson Homestead. Those wishing more information may contact Vera Lee Byrd at (360) 273-8600.
Mr. Bissell was born Feb. 6, 1965, in Puyallup, Wash. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to eastern Washington, where he remained until he moved to the home of his sister, Vera Lee Byrd, in Kasilof.
Roger loved Alaska and his many friends he came to make while living there. He enjoyed fishing and his favorite hang-out was the Katmai Motel restaurant. In August Roger had to make the heart-wrenching decision to leave Alaska due to the onset of a terminal illness. It was Roger's desire to take this time now to say goodbye to all of his good friends, to thank them for the enjoyable times together and their love, and to wish them all the best.
Roger is survived by his father and stepmother, Walter and Alice Bissell, his mother and step-father, Doris and Ray Durr, his sisters and brother, Kathie Johnson, Vera Lee Byrd, Rhonda Gosselin, and John Bissell, and their families which includes nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were made by American Burial and Cremation Services in Olympia, Wash.
