UAA tops Minnesota Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. Justin Bourne broke a tie late in the second period and Nick Lowe added an insurance goal minutes later to lead Alaska Anchorage to a 4-2 victory over Minnesota Duluth on Saturday.
Charlie Kronschnabel added three assists and an empty-net goal as the game ended for the Seawolves (7-9-2, 5-8-1 WCHA).
Matt Hanson opened scoring with a power-play goal for the Seawolves at 7:09 in the first period. The Bulldogs (8-10-4, 6-8-2) responded with a goal by Tim Stapleton at 8:52 in the second period before Bourne and Lowe ran the score to 3-1 with 14:34 left to play.
Stapleton scored again at 8:14 in the final period, but Seawolf goalie Nathan Lawson blocked 17 shots during the period to hold onto the lead.
Lawson stopped 42 shots, while Bulldog goalie Isaac Reichmuth saved 16.
Bourne scored the Seawolves' lone goal in Friday's 1-1 tie against the Bulldogs.
