Red Cross schedules first-aid classes
The American Red Cross is offering first-aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and AED classes from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Kenai Peninsula district office, 503 Frontage Road in Kenai.

Puppet show set to storm the state
Triumvirate Theatre in the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna will present “Baranov’s Castle,” an original puppet show, Thursday through Saturday and Jan. 19-21. The show will be at 7 p.m. all nights with an extra matinee at 2 p.m. Saturdays. The production, written and directed by Joe Rizzo of Kenai, tells the story of Alaska’s first governor, Alexandre Baranov, and features 13 puppets, a 40-foot set and an original sound track written by Matt Boyle of Nikiski. Tickets are $6 and may be purchased at the Triumvirate book store, open Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon to 6 p.m. For more information, call 283-6109.
Chamber to present community awards
The Kenai Chamber of Commerce will present community awards during its annual banquet beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska in Kenai.
