Health classes offered

Eating Right to get Light nutrition classes will be offered from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Wednesday beginning this week through Feb. 28 in the soup kitchen of the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. Colleen Sonnevil of the Cooperative Extension Services will be the instructor. Those attending four or more classes may enter to win a prize. For more information, call 262-3111.

First aid, CPR offered

American Red Cross of Alaska will hold first aid and CPR classes from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Red Cross office in Kenai next to Dan’s TV and Appliance.

Peace and justice meeting slated

People for Peace and Justice will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at River City Books in Soldotna. It is open to the public. For more information, call Mary Jo Spotts, 262-5447.

After-school clubs to be held

Good News clubs will be held after school today at Soldotna Elementary and Aurora Borealis Charter schools. Clubs will be held after school Thursday at Kalifornsky Beach Elementary, Cook Inlet Academy, Mountain View Elementary and Sears Elementary schools. Clubs last for one hour. Children are taught moral lessons and character qualities through lessons, games and songs. Prizes and snacks are available. Volunteer leaders are screened for child protection. Parents are welcome to attend. Permission slips are available in all schools.

Horton coming to library

Kenai Community Library, in conjunction with the Kenai Performers, will present “Horton Hears a Who” at 1 p.m. Sunday as part of its Second Sunday stories.

Food bank board meeting set

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank board of directors will meet Jan. 16 at the food bank on Community College Drive in Soldotna. For more information and the time of the meeting, call 262-3111.

NYO seeks competitors

Senior center breakfast canceled

There will no longer be a Sunday breakfast buffet at the Nikiski Senior Citizens Center.
