Kards sweep Homer

The Kenai Central girls and boys basketball teams made themselves right at home in Homer on Saturday.

The games were moved to Homer due to flooding damage done to the Kenai Central gym floor.

The Kenai boys won 66-38 in Northern Lights Conference action. Bo Reilly had 17 points to lead the Kards, while AJ Hull and Tyler Spalding added 10 apiece. For Homer, Devon Kennelty and Garet Moyer each had 10 points.

The Kenai girls notched a 52-13 victory. Raquel Young had 25 points for the Kards, while Stevie Dunlap had 10 points.

Grizzlies Basketball Classic

The Soldotna girls finished 1-2 at the Grizzlies Basketball Classic in Anchorage, while the Soldotna boys finished 2-1.

In Saturday girls action, Soldotna lost to Grace 50-47. Soldotna trailed 38-31 entering the final period and could not complete the comeback.

Heidi Eckmann had 18 points for Grace, while Mackenzie Fredrickson added 13. For the Stars, Kaillee Skjold had 13 points while Jessie Duke added 10 points.

Also Saturday, the Soldotna boys took down Grace 66-56. Soldotna grabbed a 23-11 lead after the first quarter. After Grace cut the lead to five at halftime, Soldotna pumped up the lead 59-41 after three quarters.

Evan Withrow paced the Stars with 17 points, while Ross Skjold and Garrett Bosick each had 13 points. For Grace, Zach Vandervalk had 21 points, while Andrew Bouman had 18 and Jordan Edwards added 13.

On Friday, the Soldotna boys blew out Hutchison 72-42. Aaron Bates and Garrett Bosick had nine points apiece for the Stars, as all 11 Soldotna players scored. Hutchison's Tanner Johnson led all scorers with 10 points.

Also Friday, the Soldotna girls also cruised past the Hawks. Kaillee Skjold had 18 points to lead the Stars, while Jessie Duke had 11. For Hutchison, Mimi Wood had 14 points.

Seward girls 42, Cordova 31

Chelsey Clarke had 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Seahawks to a Southcentral Conference victory over the Wolverines on Friday in Seward.

Also for Seward, Meg Barry had 14 points and Emily Draper added six points. For Cordova, Misa Webber had 12 points while Angie Kelly had nine points.

Seward boys 68, Cordova 55

Andrew Buchanan pumped in 26 points as the host Seahawks picked up a Southcentral Conference victory on Friday.

Keenan Prochazka added 13 points for Seward, while Michael Thorn had 10. For Cordova, Christian Brockert had 31 points, while Eric Johnson had 12 points.

ACS girls 38, Seward 37

The Lions edged the Seahawks for a Southcentral Conference victory on Saturday at Seward.

Dallas Dickerson pumped in 11 points for Anchorage Christian Schools, while Clarke led the Seahawks with 17 points.

Seward boys 65, ACS 51

Thorn put up 17 points for the Seahawks as they notched a Southcentral Conference victory Saturday against the Lions.

Also for Seward, Keenan Prochazka and Andrew Buchanan had 16 points. For Anchorage Christian Schools, Chris Voss and Calvin Hoffman had 16 points.

Seldovia girls 40, Ninilchik 20

The host Sea Otters picked up a Peninsula Conference victory on Saturday.

Sarah Geagle had 23 points to lead the Sea Otters to victory, while Sarah O'Leary added nine. Kaylee Smith led the Wolverines with 11 points.

Ninilchik boys 59, Nanwalek 30

The visiting Wolverines picked up a Peninsula Conference victory against Nanwalek in Seldovia on Saturday.

Sam Bennett pumped in 23 points for the Wolverines, while Scott Goins had 14 points and Billy Riley added 12 points. For Nanwalek, Chris Kvasnikoff had 11 points.

Mt. Saint Elias Tourney

Action continued at the Mt. Saint Elias Basketball Tournament in Yakutat.

In Friday girls action, Klawock edged Cook Inlet Academy 40-38. Klawock led 34-25 heading into the final quarter before the Eagles' comeback came up just short.

Cassi Williams paced Klawock with 11 points, while Megan Bauder had 10 to lead the Eagles.

Also Friday, the CIA boys beat Sitka 69-57. CIA was down 28-23 at the half, but outscored the Wolves 20-6 in the third quarter. David Reischach had 27 points for the Eagles, while Cody Munn had 15 points and Matthew Moffis had 11. For Sitka, AJ Inman had 25 points and Jon DelaCruz had 13 points.

Also Friday, the CIA boys lost to Klawock 65-51. Deion Jackson had 18 points for Klawock, while Rick Carle had 17, Paul Busse had 13 and Tyrus Morgan had 12. For CIA, Moffis led all scorers with 23 points, while David Reischach had 12 points.
