Kasilof biathlete Jay Hakkinen started his season by finishing 22nd in an IBU Cup race in Nove Mesto, Czechoslovakia, on Saturday. Hakkinen finished the 20-kilometer individual in 55 minutes, 39.9 seconds, with one missed target. He was getting a late start to his season due to illness.
Nikiski biathlete Zach Hall was 80th in the race at 1:01:25. He was hampered by seven misses on the range.
