Writers night accepting submissions

Submissions are being accepted for the fifth annual Central Peninsula Writers Night, a showcase of work created by central peninsula authors, until 5 p.m. Feb. 22.

Collected works from participating authors will be read at the Writers Night on March 15 at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center and compiled in a booklet that will be available for purchase.

Entries may be dropped off at the visitors center or mailed to 11471 Kenai Spur Highway, Kenai, AK 99611.

Patriotic art show on display

The overall winner of the Young American Creative Patriotic Art show was Soldotna High School student Heidi Biggs. The Young American Creative Patriotic Art show is on display at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center in Kenai through January. The show features artwork by students from each of the four area high schools.

The contest was sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10046 in Soldotna.
