ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Rep. Don Young, R-Alaska, will retain his chairmanship of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and his vice chairmanship of the Resources Committee, it was announced Thursday.

The House Republican Steering Committee voted unanimously to keep Young in his positions of leadership in the 108th Congress.

''I am extremely pleased to be re-elected Transportation chairman for my second term as well as vice chair of Resources,'' Young said. ''We just finished selecting the members for these Committees and we have an outstanding team.''

Young said in his leadership positions he will continue to address Alaska's transportation and resource development needs.
