KPC registration today

Registration for the 2003 spring semester at Kenai Peninsula College will take place today from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. For more information, call Suzie Kendrick at 262-0320.

Moving sale to support area family

There will be a moving sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 222 W. Redoubt St. in Soldotna. Funds raised at the sale will be used to help the Kevin and Kelli Sweatt family of Soldotna pay for medical and relocation expenses.

Elks to hold Hoop Shoot Saturday

The annual Elks Hoop Shoot will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Kenai Recreation Center. There will be age group free-throw competitions for boys and girls ages 8 to 9, 10 to 11 and 12 to 13, with a hot dog lunch to follow. For more information, call 283-7776 after 4 p.m.

Ski teams to sell prom dresses

A community prom dress, formal wear and accessories sale will be held Jan. 25 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Mall. Items for sale should be dropped off Jan. 24 at the mall, to be sold on a 30-70 percent consignment. Proceeds go to the Skyview and Soldotna High School ski teams. District to hold public meetings

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District will hold public meetings to discuss education issues at several locations on the peninsula. Meetings will be held at the Soldotna High School library Wednesday; the Seward High School auditorium Thursday; the Kenai Central High School library Jan. 21; the Homer High School library Jan. 22; and at the Nikiski Middle-Senior High School library Jan. 23. All meetings will begin at 7 p.m. For more information, call 262-5846 ext. 229.

Community club to meet

The Sterling Community Club will meet Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the log cabin on the corner of Swanson River Road and the Sterling Highway. For more information, call 262-5409.

Genealogy class planned

Totem Tracers Genealogical Society and the Soldotna Family History Center will present "Researching Newspapers, Beyond Obituaries," Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Kenai Public Library. For more information, call Cheryl Hamann at 776-3575 or 283-4481.

Blood Bank needs blood

The Kenai Peninsula Blood Bank is experiencing a severe shortage of type O negative blood. Other types are needed at well. To donate, visit the Soldotna office, located in the Blazy Mall in Soldotna.
