Crimson Bears 6, Mariners 1

Juneau-Douglas defeated the visiting Homer Mariners 6-1 on Friday night in their first hockey game since Dec. 19.

The Crimson Bears blew the game open during a three-goal second period and never looked back, not allowing a single goal until nearly 40 minutes in to the game.

This matchup played out quite differently than their previous game between the two teams in which Homer defeated the Bears 4-3 the weekend before Thanksgiving.

The same two squared off Saturday night. Those results will be printed in the Clarion's Monday edition.

Juneau Empire reporter Matthew Tynan contributed to this report.
