School district seeking committee members

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District is seeking members to serve on the budget review committee. Applications must be submitted to Melody Douglas by today. They can be delivered via e-mail to or directly to the borough office at 148 North Binkley in Soldotna. Committee meetings will be the evening of Jan. 24 and all day Jan. 28.

Cribbage tournament continues

The Cook Inlet Lions ninth annual cribbage tournament will continue Saturday at 3 p.m. through March 23. The fee of $10 per day will benefit the Cook Inlet Lions eyesight programs. For more information, call Bob at 776-5339 or Ray at 776-5688.

Genealogist to speak at historical society meeting

Soldotna Historical Society's annual membership meeting will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kenai River Center building on Funny River Road. Following the meeting Tracy Miller of the Kenai Peninsula Totem Tracers Genealogical Society will talk about the history of peninsula cemeteries. Peninsula author to hold book signing

Sharon Hackleman will sign copies of her book "Marion the Magnet's First Mission" Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Mall. Copies also will be for sale for $14.95. For more information, call 262-4876.

Support meetings for caregivers planned

Northcare Services and the Soldotna Senior Center will hold a meeting for caregivers to provide information, assistance, training and educational opportunities. The meeting will be at the senior center Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. For more information, call 262-2322.

Fish and Game Advisory meeting scheduled

The Kenai-Soldotna Fish and Game Advisory Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road. AARP meeting to be held

Community meeting planned in Kasilof

The Resource Conservation and Development District, Inc. will hold a community forum for Kasilof residents Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tustumena Elementary School multi-purpose room. Topics of discussion will include possible formation of a Kasilof community council, development of a long-range community plan, grant opportunities and other community-related projects.
