ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The Board of Directors of the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium has chosen a president and chairman.

Don Kashevaroff will take on the top job at the consortium, which operates the Alaska Native Medical Center.

Kashevaroff is President of the Seldovia Village Tribe, Chairman of the Seldovia Native Association and a member of the Alaska Native Medical Center's joint operating board. Kashevaroff also owns an Anchorage consulting firm.

Kashevaroff said he wants to make the Native-operated medical center more efficient and more customer oriented.

The board of directors of the consortium voted last month to change its leadership structure so that the chairman also serves as president.
