Oilers add two from University of California
The Oilers have added a pair of freshmen from the Pac-10 Conference's University of California.
Brian Horwitz, a 6-foot-2 outfielder from Encino, Calif., was named MVP of his high school league and was a member of the Youth Junior National USA Team.
Golden Bears teammate Creighton Kahoalii is a 6-foot catcher and was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2000 draft. Kahoalii is from Fremont, Calif., and is majoring in American Studies.
The latest edition of Collegiate Baseball has named Kenny Baugh and Jon Skaggs to its preseason All-America team. Both right-handed pitchers are from Rice University, with Baugh playing for the Oilers during the 1998 season and Skaggs in 1999.
