The Lifeskill we are learning this week is Effort - to do your best.

Monday was the first day of our two-week "Coins for Caring" service project. There is a large jar in the office for collecting coins to give to the Alaskan Red Cross for the Asian disaster.

First-graders began the "Treasurers from People" unit. All family members are invited to share their talents with the classes (artists, other hobbies and all types of professionals). They are focusing on what people have to offer others in the community. Coins for Caring fits into this unit. In math, students are working with the hundreds charts counting up and back. The have continued with counting pennies, nickels and dimes.

Two office newsletters went home last week, one from Mrs. Steckel and the other from Tony Lewis.

Friday is Pajama Day. Students can wear appropriate pajamas but they will still need their outside snow gear for recess.

During the in-service Monday, Judy Eacker will present to the staff on implementing life skills and life long guidelines into the curriculum. A reminder to those parents who signed up for the parent presentation, it is from 4 and 5 p.m., and child care is provided if you requested it.

There will be a training session Saturday, Jan. 22 from 9 to 2 p.m. for those interested in becoming board members on the APC. If you are interested in attending, call Linda Hibberd at 283-0804 for more information.
