Beekeepers to meet

Beekeepers group BKEEP, will meet at 6 p.m. today at the Soldotna Middle School. The agenda includes officer elections and topics to address for the coming year. Genealogical society to meet

The Kenai Totem Tracers Genealogical Society will meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Kenai Community Library. For more information, call Loretta Mattson at 283-9591.

Public health plans one-day closure

Kenai Public Health Center will be closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. It will reopen Jan. 19 at 8 a.m. Call 335-3400 for more information.

Volunteers sought

The LeeShore Center is in need of year-round volunteers for crisis and non-crisis programs and as office support. The center is also seeking individuals whom can help keep its Clothes donation closet in good order.

PWG planning begins

The annual youth Monopoly tournament for the Peninsula Winter Games will be held at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 25 at the Soldotna Sports Center conference rooms. Registration begins at 10 a.m.

Youth ages 8 to 18 years old are eligible to play. Prizes will be awarded.

Wallyball tourney slated

A Valentine's wallyball tournament will be held at the Kenai Recreation Center on Feb. 13. It is a three on three game format. Women vs. women, men vs. men, and co-ed vs. co-ed teams are planned.

The games will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To receive a T-shirt, rosters and fees are due by Jan. 27 at 10 p.m. Rosters will not be accepted after Feb. 5. The cost is $15 per player/$45 per team. Call Alice Bitterich at 283-3855.

Trappers to gather

The Kenai Peninsula Trappers Association will host a predator calling seminar on Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Soldotna Sports Center. Instructor and lecturer will be Rick Kinmon.

Indoor soccer offered

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Kenai Peninsula is taking registrations for indoor soccer. The event is open to youth ages 4 years old (by Feb. 5) through fifth grade. Deadline to register is 4 p.m. Feb. 5.

The deadline is firm and late registration will be done on a space available basis. Registration is done at the Kenai Rec Center. Cost is $60 and must be a current 2010 member. Practices start the week of March 22. Call the athletic department at 283-3318 for more information.

Ski event planned

Tsalteshi trails annual Ski for women will be held Feb. 7. Females of all abilities may participate in the 5k classic at 11:30 a.m., or skate at 12:30 p.m.

Registration will be held at Kaladi Brothers on Kobuk on Feb. 5 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and again race day at 10:30 a.m.

Proceeds to benefit The LeeShore Center and Tsalteshi Trails.
